 | Mini-VOX & Relay Kit (Sound Activated Switch) Philmore DATAKit # 80-126 For the uninitiated, VOX = Voice Activated Switch. This is a switch (relay) that may be activated with any sound, including the human voice. A very sensitive circuit that may be adjusted to react to very low volume sounds or a yell or hand clap. While a VOX is often used to activate a sound recorder, it may be used to trigger an alarm (the mike easily picks up vibrations in windows, wall or door), activate a video camera, radio transmitter or simply turn on a light. The relay will release after a few seconds of silence, holding as long as sound continues. (hold time may be changed up to 30 seconds) Operates on 12V DC and very low current. Ultrasonic Movement Detector Philmore DATAKit # 80-200 The circuit uses a matched pair of 40Khz transducer elements to detect movement out to about 22 feet. You may add a relay (not included) to switch a heavy appliance etc.; the unit switches just an LED as supplied. The circuit can be switched to latch "on". An ideal alarm circuit that cannot be easily fooled. We suggest you also order a soldering tool kit to make this project. Click here to go to this item (# S540). | Electronic Combination Lock Philmore DATAKit # 80-290 This really is an excellent introduction to electronic security systems. Set your own four digit code, a wrong sequence simply resets the lock. The correct code will activate a relay that can handle up to 240 volts AC. The nine digit key-pad is on a separate board connected to the circuit via a ribbon cable (30"), so a variety of mounting ideas is possible. Requires a 9 or 12 volt battery or supply. PIR Motion Detector Philmore DATAKit # 80-300 One of our favorite circuits. The circuit sees infrared heat, such as from intruders body. The kit uses a late development in movement ICs and employs a very sophisticated circuit. You may set it to non-trigger in daylight hours. When tripped, an LED indicator lights and relay is tripped. "Sees" up to about eighteen feet. Operation on 9 to 12 volt battery with very long life.

 | Movement Detector Components Philmore DATAKit # 80-620 This is not quite a complete kit; the package contains the three key parts for a PIR detector (personal infrared detector). You get the PCB mounted Fresnel lens, a PIR movement sensor and the Integrated Circuit that we use in the full kit (No. 80-300). Included are eight pages of documentation notes and circuits to show you how to proceed. We suggest you also order a soldering tool kit to make this project. Click here to go to this item (# S540). Light Alarm Philmore DATAKit # 80-080 A sensitive photo Darlington transistor is used with CMOS nand gate. The circuit detects light and triggers a siren. You could add your own triac or relay and switch practically anything. The kit uses the MEL12 Darlington superalpha phototransistors, typically about ten times more sensitive than a normal phototransistor. The circuit usage includes burglar alarms, medicine cabinet alarm, automobile alarm etc...

 | Infrared Beam Door Minder Philmore DATAKit # 80-013
A transmitter sends an I/R beam up to 75 feet to a receiver (on separate pc boards); break the beam and a relay is tripped. Use the relay to control a bell or light or other device ; even a video recorder and camera. Operation requires 9 to 12 VDC, a wall adaptor is fine and you may want two units (provision is made to power both boards with one supply via a two conductor wire). Use to watch a hallway or drive way, across the doors to a three or four car garage etc. and we know of a photographer taking wildlife photos this way. The uses for alarms, photography, door minding and so on are numerous. You could make weatherproof hoods to use out-of-doors but be sure to protect from moisture. Home/Car Alarm Philmore DATAKit # 80-101 This circuit is an alarm for the home or car door, and a lot more. It employs a magnet and reed switch to trigger the circuit; when the magnet is moved away from the reed switch, the alarm is triggered. An integral piezo sounder produces the alarm sound (100dB). And a PLUS, a relay capable of handling up to 10 amps AC is included and may be connected to turn on or off an appliance, light or external alarm sounder etc. Therefore the circuit could be used to turn on a light whenever a basement or garage door is opened. We suggest you also order a soldering tool kit to make this project. Click here to go to this item (# S540). Click Here For Picture Of Soldering Kit # S540.
